Lactating  Mothers
 

Dietary guidelines-

  • Numbers of meals can be increased, because nutritional requirement are maximum during lactation compared to any other age group to meet the requirement.
  • Add lots of green leafy vegetables, whole grain and plenty of water in diet to avoid constipation.
  • If the mother loses rapid weight loss while breast feeding, increased her calorie intake.
  • Occasionally strong spices and condiments, cabbage, onions , gram flour may cause gastric distress or loose stools in infants, so try to avoid these food.
  • Add south(dry ginger) vadi, dink laddu, almonds, milk, garden cress seeds, ragi in diet because it increases the secretion of breast milk.
