Shitkari pranayam

Shitkari literally means 'That which cools".this pranayam gives us cooling effect.Shitakri is a way of sipping and sucking air through open mouth,teeth and flat tongue,while making sound of SSssi SSssi and therefore it is known as Shitkari.
Purpose - It reduces heat ,clear the complexion and helps In controlling thirst,hunger and sleep.
Required resources-Mat Execution -
1)Sit in any comfortable meditation posture. Close the eyes and relax the whole body.
2)Hold the teeth lightly together.
3)Separate the lips, exposing the teeth.
4)The tongue may be kept flat or folded against the soft palate in khechari mudra (refer to the section Mudra). Breathe in slowly and deeply through the teeth. At the end of the inhalation, close the mouth, keeping the tongue either flat or in khechari mudra.
5)Breathe out slowly through the nose in a controlled manner.
6)This is one round.
Benefits -
The regular practice of shitkari lowers the body heat,clears your complexion and helps you in controlling thirst ,hunger and sleep.
Guidelines/cautions -

1)One with sensitive teeth,should avoid this pranayam. 2)Wait atleast three-four after meal before starting pranayama,because food in stomach places pressure on diaphragm and lungs.
3)Do not do it in cold season.
4)Shitkari has good effect on dyspepsia.
5)This pranayam decreases the burning sensation resulting from stomach acidity.
